When you’re in a long distance relationship it can be difficult to have real “date” nights. You rely on Skype to give you any illusion of intimacy. Luckily for me, Jay and I are more of the goofy-types than the romantic-types. We are both pretty simple-minded in the sense that a simple movie night or board game night will make us happy.
One of Jay’s and my favorite activities during Skype is playing Guess Who. For those of you who don’t know what it is, Guess Who is a two player game where you each have a game board of people’s faces. At the beginning of the game each of you draws a card and secretly looks at it. This is your person card and your opponent has to try and guess who you picked while you try and guess who was on their card.
You take turns asking each other “yes or no” questions to try and narrow down the options of who it could be. For example, I might say “Does your person have white hair?” or “Is your person wearing a hat?” Jay and I try to get a little creative with our questions to keep it interesting. Sometimes we’ll ask “Does your person look like a mean person?” or other subjective questions. I like doing this because it tests how well we know each other. I always have to think….would Jay see this person as mean? It’s a challenge, but definitely makes it a little more fun!
Depending on how intense the games are we usually play between 3 and 5 games. We can get pretty competitive with it. Once I had 5 options left to choose from, but Jay had narrowed my person down to one. So I took a guess and chose the right person! He was not very happy…hahaha
I really enjoy our time together playing Skype Guess Who because it brings out our silly side. Both of us really like playing games and it’s nice that we can share that every once in a while (even if they game is meant for children). When it comes to our LDR, it really is the simple things that keep us happy.
