Free Spirit Award

I am incredibly blessed to be nominated for a second award this week! Special thanks to the lovely Diana from Toast and Tea Together for nominating me for the Free Spirit Award. I am always looking towards Diana if I want new ideas for my blog and I’m truly honored to receive a nomination from her.

What’s next?

  • Include the Free Spirit Award picture in your acceptance post.
  • The nominator chooses a topic for you to write about in your acceptance post.
  • Nominate other awesome bloggers for the Free Spirit Award!

Diana’s topic is all about food, which is probably why I like her so much! She challenged her nominees to share 5 to 10 foods they love! Here goes:

Potatoes. I love potatoes whether they’re baked, fried, twice baked, roasted, mashed, french fried, tot form…I LOVE THEM ALL. If I could have just one food to cook for the rest of my life it would definitely be potatoes. They’re such a warm and comforting food that can be prepared in a variety of different ways.

Cheese. I don’t know what else to say. I love cheese. Cheese is perfect. I love almost all cheeses, minus brie and blue cheese. Gouda (which is actually where Jay is from), cheddar, manchego, cheese, cheese, cheese, cheese!

Stroopwafels. These are traditional Dutch wafer cookies filled with “stroop” (a sweet caramelly syrup) in the middle. Out of all of the foods that Jay introduced me to, this is probably my favorite. It’s the yummiest when warm, but good at room temperature too. Light, sweet, and gooey…mmmm! I like them for an afternoon snack with tea (if you place one over the top of your mug, the steam will warm it up) or a dinner dessert πŸ™‚

Steak. I rarely eat steak because it’s one of the more expensive meats to buy and I haven’t perfected my steak cooking technique. Whenever I go out to a restaurant I tend to lean more towards the steak options because I don’t often buy it to cook for myself. I grew up loving steak and it’s one of my favorite treats!

Soup. Ever since I was younger I’ve loved soup. Sick? Eat soup. Cold outside? Eat soup. Lazy and don’t feel like cooking? Eat soup. Not that hungry, but want to eat something? Eat soup. When in doubt….eat soup.

Cookies. I don’t know what I love more, baking cookies or eating them. One of my greatest pasttimes is baking cookies. I love baking them and decorating them and, of course, eating them!

Pasta. I love pasta with marinara. I love pasta with vodka sauce. I love pasta with olive oil. I love pasta with alfredo sauce. Give me some pasta with chicken, broccoli, sausage….give me pasta with anything! I love spaghetti, linguine, penne, shells, orecchiette, and tortellini.

One of my favorite pasta dishes is mac & cheese! This one I made was butternut squash mac & cheese, yum!

Now that you’ve seen some of my favorite foods…It’s time for me to nominate bloggers for the Free Spirit Award. My nominees are:

Monday Diaries

New England Nomad

Ana Linden

Ann-Christin Bert

Beauty – Travel – Latte

Scale Simple

Sparks and Sounds

Destination Humanity

Jay and Lily’s Adventures

If you choose to accept the nomination you must follow the same rules, but write about the topic of my choosing. Your post must be about your 3 favorite holidays and the traditions you have for each of them. You only have to write it if you accept the nomination. Some of you I have followed for a long time and others I’m just discovering, but you are all such an inspiration. Thank you!

  1. Oh my gosh!!! Christie, I was drooling! HAHAHA. It was a bad idea to read your post with a hungry tummy! I haven’t eaten anything yet and now I am craving for baked potatoes and steak…and the wafer cookies! Ugh this is amazing. I love the photos you included! Thank you for sharing! ❀

      1. You’re always welcome! I hope you won’t get tired of me getting you involved in all my activities! Hehe. I can only imagine you writing this post, how long did it take you to finish it? It would have taken me the entire day. Haha!
