One Month To Go

Jay is coming to visit in less than a month and I am BEYOND excited for it. We’ve been planning restaurants to go to, little side trips to go on, and holiday festivities. This will be the first time Jay has celebreated my birthday and Christmas with me and it’s going to be awesome!!!!

Restaurants. I spend my nights now Skyping Jay and researching new restaurants for us to try. From steakhouses to Italian restaurants to what’s new at Taco Bell….we love food! We want to go on some romantic date nights at somewhat fancy restaurants while he’s here. Neither of us get to go out that often on our own to nice places so it will make the dates even more special!

Holidays. Everyone has their own holiday traditions. In fact, Sinterklaas already arrived in Holland and the shops are filled with kruidoten and chocolate letters. The Dutch make these really yummy almond filled cookies and I thought it would be really fun if Jay and I make them together. He hasn’t baked them in years so it should be a fun challenge for both of us! The cookies are called gevulde koeken….I’ll be sure to tell you how they taste. 🙂

Adventures. When Jay is here we’re going to travel a lot. We’ve planned to go to NYC, Cape Cod, my hometown, with possible pitstops in Rhode Island and Boston. I can’t wait to explore the cities and make more memories with Jay. We’ve been to NYC and Boston together before, but he has never been to Cape Cod. I can’t wait to share it with him. He’s only visiting for 10 days so we need to make it count!

Movies. If you’re not excited for Star Wars we probably can’t be friends. Just kidding! But, in all seriousness, Jay and  I are both very excited for The Force Awakens to hit theaters. We’re also planning to see In the Heart of the Sea since we read the book together. I want to see The Revenant so maybe I can convince Jay to see that with me too!

Nights In. Whenever we visit, Jay and I really enjoy spending some night in. We’ll curl up on the couch and watch a movie or race each other in Mario Kart! Last time he visited we even painted our own tribal-style art. I’m sure we’ll cook lots of delicious meals, watch some cool shows, and enjoy some nice dates at home.

Regardless of what we do, it’s going to be an awesome visit. I can’t wait to share the holiday season with Jay! Just being together will be the best Christmas present of all.
