Christmas is one of my favorite holidays. It’s not because I get lots of presents (my birthday is 3 days before so I really get a lot)…there is so much more to it than that.
Cookies. Ever since I was young, I’ve loved to bake. I’m oddly picky when it comes to desserts, but I will eat almost any type of cookie! Every year around this time I would start baking Christmas cookies so my family could deliver plates of them on Christmas Eve.
Decorations. Nothing makes me quite as happy as holiday lights. The way the colored bulbs reflect off the snow, the light-up sleighs with reindeer, and candles in peoples’ windows all make me smile.
Shopping. I occasionally dabble in shopping, but I enjoy online shopping much more than going to stores. During Christmas I like to visit shops and hum along to the holiday music while looking at the holiday decorations. Everything seems happier in the stores.
Giving. Speaking of presents…I LOVE GIVING THEM. My family is really big on Christmas. This year I have 13 presents to buy and while I feel overwhelmed at times, I can’t help but be excited for it! I love finding that perfect gift and seeing my loved one’s reaction when opening it.
Happiness. I must not know a lot of Scroogey people because I think everyone seems nicer during the holidays. Maybe it’s the upcoming vacation days from work or seeing long-lost family members, but people seem genuinely happier around Christmas.
I could go on and on about what I love about Christmas, but I think I’ll stick to my five favorite aspects of the holiday. What are your favorite things about Christmas? Do you have special traditions with your family this time of year? Share them below! 🙂
