My town was pretty small growing up and we didn’t have many Christmas traditions. The biggest holiday festivity we had was a tree lighting ceremony on the main street. I went there as a kid and when I was in high school I volunteered to play Christmas Carols with a small group of people. We gathered a small sample of the high school band and played songs while the townspeople sang along. At the end a young child would flip the switch to illuminate a large tree with lights. Santa Claus would be chauffered to the tree via firetruck and pass out candy canes to all the children. Afterwards we ate some cookies and drank hot chocolate with everyone. It wasn’t a very elaborate tradition, but it’s something I will never forget!
Does your town have any cool holiday traditions? Do you go caroling each year? I want to hear your Christmas traditions!
