As I’ve mentioned before, Jay and I have never spent my birthday or Christmas together. Even before the distance we weren’t able to since Jay was always flying off to exotice places for the holidays and my birthday is only three days before Christmas. This year I asked Jay if he was coming to visit me for the holidays almost every single day….and it paid off! Jay will be flying in on the 20th and I am beyond excited.
All I wanted for my birthday was for Jay to visit and now that wish is coming true. We are hoping to visit NYC for my birthday. We’ll see a show, roam Central Park, and eat at one of our favorite restaurants. At least…that’s what we hope to do! We are also hoping to have our own mini-Christmas before meeting up with my family on Christmas Day. Since we never get to spend the holiday together we thought it would be nice to have a more initimate celebration this year. We’re going to cook dinner together, exchange presents, and snuggle up near my 3-ft tall fake tree. What’s more romantic than that?!
There’s something else I hope for this holiday season. I’m hoping that we can discuss future plans more in depth. Will I end up moving to the Netherlands or will Jay move back here? We haven’t talked about it in a long time now, and my views have changed on a few things since our last conversation. I hope to take advantage of the time we have face-to-face to get everything out in the open and sort through our options. This is one of the aspects of visits I love the most….how effectively and easily you can communicate with one another. My main “winter wish” is that we will create a more accurate plan for our future.
But don’t worry, I won’t let this heavy talk kill the mood. We’ll still be plenty busy with our regular visit activities. We have cookies to bake, people to see, and places to go! Now if only we could have a bit of snow….
For those of you meeting up with your SO for the holidays, what do you have planned?! If you can’t see your SO for the holiday season, what do you plan on doing to celebrate through the distance? Whatever you do, I’m sure it will be awesome! Share your stories below. I’d love to hear them! 🙂
