Hello, friends! Remember me? Each month I set out three goals for myself. Some are long term goals and some are short term, but the overall intent is the same; I am striving to make myself a better person, to become the best version of myself.
Last month, I had some ambitious goals. I wanted to create an actuarial exam study plan, run more often, and consume less sugar. Being December, there were a lot of things going on in my life. Work got extremely busy and Jay came to visit. I didn’t focus as much on myself and my goals as I would have liked to, but I did make some improvements.
I did not create a study plan, but I actually re-thought of that goal just the other day. This is something I really want to do so I can advance my career and increase my knowledge base.
Run more often, hmmm…I went to the gym more frequently in the first two weeks of December, but this stopped when Jay arrived to the states. I think I’m back on track now though because I ran a 5k on New Year’s Day!
Surprisingly, I did consume a lot less sugar than normal. I was impressed with myself since I decided to cut back just in time for the holidays. One of the main things I cut back on was Starbucks. I’m a sucker for chai tea latte, but I know there is a lot of sugar in them. I’ve only had two since I made that goal!
Now it’s time for my first goals of 2016!
Actually Create That Study Plan. Since I didn’t make the study plan in December and I still really want to take the exam this Spring, I need to make a plan. I think this will motivate me to study more often and (hopefully) pass the exam.
Run 13 More Towns. I belong to a club where the individual goal for everyone is to run at least one race in each town of the state. I just ran my 7th town on the 1st and I think it would be great to get to 20 towns by the end of the year. Wish me luck!
Spend Less Money. I really want to stop spending so much money on going out. Going out to eat, going out for social gatherings, and going out to drink. There are more important things for me to be spending money on and I think cutting back on these superfluous things will actually benefit m health along with my wallet.
