Happy February! It’s hard to believe that we are already one month into 2017! All of January seems like one hectic blur now. But what a perfect day to restart My Monthly 3. I haven’t written a goals post as often as I’d like, so here goes a new and improved 2017 MM3.
Goal 1: Live Healthier
This is such a broad goal. Lucky for me, I have a plan. I want to adopt a healthier lifestyle by incorporating more fruits and vegetables into my diet. I started this in January so I’m off to a good start. I also want to sleep more (still working on that one) and establish an exercise routine. I’ll start with just 4 workouts a week and then work my way up to more exercise. Next up, water. I used to be really good at staying hydrated and I need to get back into the groove.
Goal 2: Learn More Dutch
This one shouldn’t be too difficult to achieve given my resources. I have an online subscription to Rosetta Stone and a book of comic strips in Dutch that Jay gave me. I practice my Rosetta Stone lessons at least a few days a week and try to read some pages of the comics to Jay over Skype. I also recently created a spreadsheet to help me organize my Dutch knowledge.
Goal 3: Save More Money
This is something I have struggled with for awhile now. I go through phases of being good at saving money and then I turn around and give myself a shopping spree. Soon I will get the money from my unused vacation days in 2016 and hopefully my tax return. I plan on contributing half of that money into my IRA. I am also starting to meal prep to cut costs and avoid eating out more than once a week. The little things can really add up!
Life is all about learning and adapting to your surroundings. If you aren’t happy with how your life is today, start taking small steps towards changing tomorrow. Improvement doesn’t take long, but a routine takes time. Don’t be afraid to have a cheat day every once in awhile as long as your goal is still in sight.
